Location

The Centre is centrally located in the city’s unique riverside precinct at South Bank, home to Brisbane’s thriving arts and cultural community. The Centre is built upon the former site of World Expo Park, the rollercoaster theme park built for the successful hosting of Brisbane's World Expo '88.

Building

The building is 450 metres in length, 120 m wide and 24 m high.[1] The complex roof design is based on five hyperbolic paraboloids.[1] The building is stabilised by concrete shear walls and clad in steel. A car park is located on the ground floor.

Expansion

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Grey Street was expanded in 2011. The expanded venue is now able to house three stand alone plenary halls catering for events from 400 to 8,000 and a total of 44 meeting rooms and event spaces.

Events

The Centre hosts events such as the Brisbane International Boat Show, graduation ceremonies for Griffiths University, art shows, charity events and the International Water Congress.

Management

The Centre is owned by South Bank Corporation and proudly managed by leading international venue management specialists, AEG Ogden. AEG Ogden manages venues throughout the Asia Pacific region, including the Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centres, the Qatar National Convention Centre (currently under construction), Sydney’s Allphones Arena, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, the Perth Arena (currently under construction), Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane and live theatres including Perth’s His Majesty’s Theatre and the Perth Concert Hall.
